The Stressproofing Methodology

  • Headteachers/managers need firstly to decide who the lead person will be. This named representative will be responsible for setting up the audit process. The Headteacher/manager could carry out this role.
  • Once set up, staff will be invited to complete a confidential online questionnaire. Participation will be voluntary.
  • Once the time frame for completion of the audit is passed, the nominated representative will be able to download a detailed report which will show not only areas of concern (if any) but also areas where there is positive practice in the workplace.
  • The nominated representative should then arrange to share the report with staff and together prioritise the areas for concern.
  • The next stage of the process for the school will be to access the ‘Think About’ guides that relate to the priorities they have identified to get some ideas of how to respond to them
  • Using the action plan templates for guidance, a programme of activities should be drawn up and all staff encouraged to get involved in implementing and delivering these.

By reviewing progress and conducting subsequent audits, the process can clearly be seen to be a continuous improvement model.

To deliver on action points Headteachers/Managers may also want to seek assistance from specialist support e.g. Trade Unions, Human Resources, Health & Safety, etc.
